Patrick Cummins not rushing back to competitive cricket – Cricket News Update
Australian youngster, Patrick Cummins, is hopeful of travelling with the team to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The teenage sensation was touted to become a pivotal figure for an important home summer which saw his side battling the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
However, injury ruined him of playing any part in the bouts after a heel problem left him in considerable pain, following an impressive debut Test performance away to Proteas, where he claimed an important 6-wicket haul to help his side level the series.
The hosts were inconsistent against the Black Caps, allowing the visitors to claim their first win in 26 years on their home soil but what followed was an extraordinary display against the Men In Blue, pounding the visitors in all four matches to emerge
resoundingly victorious.
The attack was efficiently led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392.
With the Commonwealth Bank tri-series commencing shortly, Cummins is expected to miss all the clashes in order to make himself fully fit for the team’s upcoming trip to the Caribbean Island to face the Windies.
"The main thing everyone has said is don't rush and try and race back for something and then end up doing it again and you're out for another three months," Cummins told the
Sydney Morning Herald. "It's a bit out of everyone's hands, it's just how it recovers. Just playing it by ear and when it's ready it's ready. I'd love to be on that West Indies tour.”
The tour will commence mid-way in March, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 first locking horns in five One Day Internationals, followed by 2 T20s before taking on the local team in 3 five-day games. Cummins feels that the intense workout will make him fit in a month’s time,
setting his sight firmly on the ODI bouts.
“[It] probably takes another three or four weeks to build up to game practice. After that four weeks, hopefully 10 overs should be right for one-day cricket," said Cummins.
