Patrick Head says he is not retiring from Williams in 2011 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ co-founder Patrick Head has said that he has not yet taken any decision to leave the team at the end of the 2011 season.
He mentioned that he wants to be a part of Williams for the 2012 Formula 1 season, so he is not retiring later in 2011.
Head told the media, “Plans are not in the public domain and they will only be when I make my own statement later in the year. I probably won't be involved with Williams Formula 1 in the same way from the end of the year but I'll still be involved in some
Williams’ activities.”
At the start of the season, Williams chief Adam Parr revealed that the team’s co-founder Head will be retiring at some point in the ongoing season.
Parr said, “Patrick has made it clear that he will be retiring this year, so at some point this year that will happen. That's nothing to do with the restructuring, it's just the fact that he's turning 65 and had already signalled that it's time for him to
move on to his next set of interests in life.”
The team’s co-founder did not refuse Parr’s comments about him and insisted that he will remain with them in the next season.
Head is also an Engineering Director of the Williams Formula 1 team along with its co-founder.
Williams’ drivers Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado are making improvements in terms of their performances with every race.
In the recently held British Grand Prix, the team had a good start. They finished their Friday Free Practice sessions on the grid in a positive manner. The team driver, Maldonado started his race from the seventh place on the opening grid and finished at
the 14th place for Williams. On the other hand, Barrichello ended up in the 13th spot in Silverstone.
The drivers’ race results were not satisfactory for the team, as they were expecting a good finish from them after a successful qualifying round at the Silverstone racetrack.
The tenth round of this season is scheduled to take place on July 24, 2011 in Nurburgring. Let’s see how the team performs over there following their disappointing British Grand Prix.
