http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 striker has been injured for the past few weeks and has been ruled out for the remainder
of the season.
Helmes, who has been in sensational form of late, claimed that it is up to Joachim Low to decide the squad and the player has preferred not to comment on the situation. He admitted that there has been a lot of speculation recently
regarding his inclusion in the national team but he wants to wait for the decision.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man added that he has talked to Low and the signs are positive but he wants to focus on the remaining Bundesliga games to ensure Wolfsburg secure a European place at the end of the season.
“Three or four months ago, that was utopian, but now things are going well and there is a lot of speculation. But that doesn't really interest me much. We will just see what the national team coach does. I have had contact with
the team manager and (assistant coach) Hansi Flick, which is positive,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Joachim Low expressed his concerns over the return of Klose. He admitted that he is worried with Klose’s injury and wants to make sure that the striker is deemed fit for the tournament. He insisted that he is
looking for replacements and has shortlisted a few players who will be considered for the squad.
“I am really worried. He has not played for weeks and has been injured for a long time, therefore we have got to see if we can get him back into the rhythm which is required for a tournament in just a few weeks,” the manager added.
