Carlos Tevez, the Manchester City striker has been a big factor, this season, behind City's success, and has led the star-studded team in style. After being given the armband, the Argentine seems to have raised his game even more. Comparisons are being made
with the former greats of English Premier League, and his team mate, Patrick Vieira has said that Tevez is as good as his former teammate, Thierry Henry. The comparison is quite a big compliment to the City striker, as Henry is, without a doubt, one of the
greatest to have ever played in English football.
Vieira said that Tevez has the same effect on the team as Henry used to have for Arsenal; the former Arsenal captain said that players like Tevez have the ability to carry the responsibility of the whole team on their shoulders.
Carlos Tevez, though, does have a c***k in his armor; on Wednesday night, he failed to net one in from the penalty spot. This was not the first time this happened in the current season. City, however, did manage to win the replay 4-2, against Leicester.
Tevez was on the score sheet in the win as he took his season tally in all competitions to 16.
Vieira said that he can recall the Arsenal days when Henry used to be in similar form, and used to have almost the same impact on the team. He admitted that both players are very different from each other, but the skill set that Tevez possesses is probably
at the same level. The French midfielder, who was not included in the World Cup squad last year, said that when a team is hunting for silverware, they always need a striker who is good enough for 25-30 goals per season. And Carlos Tevez is that man for City.
He went on to say that being the captain might put a lot of pressure on him, but he needs to carry his from till the end if Manchester City are to win any trophies this season.
While continuing to praise the former Manchester United player, Vieira said that, at times, it is not just about goals with players like Tevez. He added that when he is playing well he can not only score goals, but can also create more chances for others
to make use of- and that is priceless.
Roberto Mancini, the Manager for Manchester City, is equally impressed with his front man. He is happy that he was able to convince Tevez to stay at the club when the season began. Mancini admitted that Tevez did have thoughts of leaving the club when the
summer transfer window was open, but he managed to convince him to stay and that, to him, is probably the best piece of business he has conducted recently.
The City boss admitted that taking penalties has been one slight problem, and the next time his team is given a spot kick, Tevez may not be the one taking it, but that is to be decided later on.
Mancini said:
"In every game, Carlos either scores a goal, plays well or fights against strong defenders. He helps control the match. There is only one problem. Penalties. At this moment, they are very average, so we will see what happens with the next one".
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 said that being on number two in the table is fantastic at this stage of the season, and he could not have been happier with his team's performance. He admitted that when all the games in hand are played out by United, the gap may be wider, but that
it is not at all guaranteed, as one of them is against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan boss said that all he is worried about is his own team's performance and everything else will just fall into place on its own.
