Whats the status of Patrick valenzuela?Is he coming back soon?

If we assume that PVal is not having substance abuse issues (unfortunately never a safe assumption about him), then between post-surgery knee injury and broken ribs, he'll need to spend some time "legging up" and getting fit to ride again.  I would assume that he'll want to get on some horses in the mornings before going back to the races, so I think it's pretty safe to say that until PVal starts showing up at morning workouts, he's probably some weeks away from the races.

Another factor:  he's getting to the age where making weight is harder and harder to do.  I dunno, if he gets the right offers to do something else, like broadcasting, he may decide that the time is right to hang up his tack, especially before he has a fall that puts him out of action.

He suffered a pretty serious injury in the accident with being kicked by a runner. But there will be rumors swirling because of his history of wrestling with demons. Personally, I hope his health is 100-percent of mind as much as body, because there has be very scant information out since the injury. There is no definite return date as of yet.

I hope he does, I am a big fan of P Val. The latest article I read said that he is having a difficult time recuperating from knee surgery, though he wants to ride again.

Of course, with him many people assume whenever he is away for awhile that he is back on drugs again, hopefully that isn't the case.

There was something about him in the DRF today, but it is indefinite.

Valenzuela - out since suffering broken ribs when kicked by a horse in

the saddling ring here in November - will be out. "I last heard from

him a month ago," said Pegram. "He told me to hang in there, that he

was just mending and would be back." Valenzuela underwent knee surgery

during the time off."
