Patrimonium to edge out competition in the Gabriel Curran Memorial Madrid Handicap at the Curragh
All other contestants of the Gabriel Curran Memorial Madrid Handicap at the Curragh race course at about seven furlongs on 25 March, 2012, will be making their seasonal 2012 debut in the race except the 3-year-old J. S. Bolger trained filly, Patrimonium,
who will be making her third start of the season, and extending her good run for the new season at Curragh today, where she has only raced once in her career.
Out of the seven contestants that are participating in the race, Patrimonium is a little too experienced and has started the season brightly, which gives her a little edge over the rest on the contestants.
In 2012, the daughter of Green Desert, out of mare Patrimony by Cadeaux Genereux, Patrimonium landed her first race of her career in the Follow Ladbrokes On Twitter 3YO Handicap at Dundalk on 24 February, 2012, over a distance of 1 mile over a standard surface
against 9 other runners.
Under jockey K. J. Manning, Patrimonium was sent at 10 to 1, but had a strong, well planned ride where she broke well and settled in 6th place half way through the race, but she gradually started moving up as the race progressed and with a furlong
to go she made her move from third and went on strong from there giving the runner no chance, as she defeated Samollie by 4 ½ lengths.
Patrimonium was sent as the 5 to 4 favourite in her next race, the Chefs Kitchen 3YO Race also at Dundalk on 9 March, 2012, where he again paired up with K. J. Manning.
She ran a brilliant race, coming off the pace where she was third halfway, and picked it up to be second with 3 furlongs to go, but J. P. O’Brien ride, Honourable Emperor was asserted close to the wire as he edged out Patrimonium by half a length.
Though she hasn’t downed a significant race yet, and as a result she is the 4 to 1 choice to win the Gabriel Curran Memorial Madrid Handicap, but overall the filly’s credentials look far more promising than all the contestants participating in today’s race.
