What's more important?

1. Having a President who is patriotic.

OR

2. Having a President who defends the Constitution.

Obama strikes me as being less patriotic than McCain. However, McCain strikes me as less likely than Obama to uphold the constitution.

  1. I do not see any conflict between one's patriotism and defending the Constitution. If your impression is that McCain is more patriotic than Obama, so be it. It is your opinion.

  2. Listne up people!  First off, Obama has serious issues with the second amendment(right to bear arms) but that is not important.  What is important is that "WE the people" allow the courts and our elected governments to take our rights away.  WE elect most of these people and WE are mostly ignorant about what really goes on behind closed doors, WE allow ourselves to get caught up in the "issue of the day: as prescribed to us by our own media.

Some actor or activist decides that we are too stupid for our own good and that gets the ball rolling.  WE just sit by idly as the ball picks up speed and then we get used to the idea that we should not be allowed to think for ourselves (SEE: anti smoking, cell phone use, helmets and what we do in our own homes)

Our government is one huge futile money sucking organization and WE let them do whatever they wish to us.

Stop complaining and get involved or tune it out and end up in a communist country.

The courts do more to us in terms of taking away our freedoms than anyone in government has ever done.  Look to the people in the black robes if you are looking for the answer to the question of losing our freedoms.

Patriotism is a cloak used by many to blind us to the truth.  God said we "should have no other gods" and for many being patriotic is more important than following God.  All of the countries FLAGS have become a dividing tool.  WE take them too seriously, many idolize them.

Who cares if someone wishes to burn one, it is just colored fabric to me.  That does not mean I take my country and freedoms for granted, it just means that God is more important to me than a flag or a cross for that matter.  Patriotism and idolatry are tools used by those who wish to use our emotions against us.

  3. Obviously you have a distorted view of "patriotism" as, I'm afraid, do many others in this age of smear and attack and meaningless nationalism.

Any President who would whittle away our Constitutional rights one by one, as bush has done and as McCain certainly will, is in violation of his Presidential Oath (to uphold the Constitution) and is eligible for Impeachment.

  4. The two are not mutually exclusive.  In fact, they should be inextricably intertwined.  Both McCain and Obama are patriots.  And both would uphold the constitution.  The problem is that I'm sure they have differing views on what certain provisions of the Constitution mean, and those differing views allow for different policy approaches by each candidate.

When you say "defend the Constitution" you have to ask if you mean defend YOUR INTERPRETATION (sorry, no italics) of the Constitution, or defend what it ACTUALLY means.  It is quite possible that both candidates may be wrong in their interpretations.  Therein lies the rub.

  5. Obama is a left wing liberal loony.  The loonies in our country treat the Constitution as an impediment to their quest to control government.

  6. No way Obama is going to uphold the constitution.  And neither will his judges, and neither will his "changes."  He is so pink he is red.

  7. How is upholding the constitution not Patriotic?

    Obama 2008

  8. The only way you could ever have redeemed your now shredded constitution, was to have voted for Ron Paul, and Kucinich, but you don't want anyone who will restore your rights, so you will go on suffering for another five to ten years, with this lot thats left in the race.  God bless America.
