Patron tequila any suggestions ....?

I tried patron straight up once, loved it, and now because I'm watching my calories trying to stay away from mixed drinks, like a margarita, I just bought some patron, but I want to mix frozen fruit in ... just to add some fruity flavor without adding the extra calories of a mix or juice. My question is if i thaw the frozen fruit, pour the tequila over it, how long should I let it sit for to really get a berry flavor... also can I put the patron in the freezer...

also can you add like seltzer water to it, just to cut back on the consumption?

  1. well on thing that you can try is at some liq store they have low carb mixes might not be as low calories that you want but most of the low carb mixes have low or no sugar whichin turn lowers the calories in it. Most are powder mixes and i have seen margarita low carb mix.

  2. well you know you could always put the fruit in the blender then add the patron... it won't be as thick as a mixed drink but you'll get the fruity flavor and the tequila taste.

    I wouldn't add seltzer water... somehow I don't think that'd taste right

  3. Ingredients:

    1 1/2 oz Tequila

    2 oz pineapple juice

    2 oz cranberry juice

    splash of lemon-lime soda (sugar-free0

squeeze of fresh lime wedge (can also be used as garnish)

red, green and white super-fine sugar for rimming

  4. Commercial margarita mixes are laden with calories, mainly because they are mostly corn syrup. Those can be as much as 500-700 calories.

The good news is that not only can you make a better margarita on your own, you can also make one with significantly fewer calories.

The way I make then is as follows:

    2 oz tequila

juice from 1 lime, freshly squeezed

1 tablespoon agave nectar (looks & tastes like honey and is made from agave just like the tequila)

2 tablespoons of water to thin out the agave nectar

Just shake all that with ice in a shaker and pour into a short glass.

If you can't find agave nectar (at places like Whole Foods) bar syrup will work too.

Note: I did not specify triple sec or any orange liqueur as it's not traditional (in Mexico) to do so. That idea was developed in Palm Springs by an American bartender trying to make tequila more palatable to the wives of the Hollywood elite who hung out there at the time. They are actually French in origin and didn't really become common in Mexico until US tourists began to expect it.

If you want orange liqueur, since you're using a good tequila like Patron, get at least Cointreau, if not Grand Marnier, and add 1 oz to the above mix.

As I make them, including the tequila, you're looking at about 230 calories.

That being said, good tequila is also great on the rocks with a squeeze of lime, and yes, you could also do it on the rocks with a splash of club soda/seltzer.

  5. I would let it set with some strawberries or watermelon for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator.  When you remove it you can eat the fruit for a little kickin' flavor, and the leftover juices should be super-delicious.  You could also mix Patron with a mild orange or pineapple juice for a nice flavor, good vitamins and nutrients, and little fat and calories.

Yes, you can put Patron in the freezer.
