Pattinson hurt by Test axe – Cricket News Update
Australian fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, but further admitted to being at fault following his failure to comply with the management’s orders.
Pattinson, along with teammates http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 after failing to submit a three-point assignment which was due on Saturday.
Following their mammoth defeat in the recently concluded http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 Test, all players were to report to the management and explain ways to improve their overall game. Twelve players handed the task on time, but the remaining four did not comply, which inevitably
forced the management to take drastic measures.
The aggressive reaction has already forced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, who has flown home to be with his pregnant wife, to consider his Test future with national team, while there has been widespread criticism hurled at the current management by former players, who feel that
the penalty was little too harsh given that they had not breached any disciplinary protocol.
Pattinson was also left stunned by his omission, having been the team’s most impressive pacer on the tour so far. While his first reaction was of disbelief, he admitted that strict measures remain the only way to promote a winning culture in the team.
"It does hurt, missing a Test match. It's not only that, you let your team down as well. At the time I was told I was quite upset. At the start I didn't take it as well as I probably could have. The easy thing for me was to make excuses and say it's a harsh
punishment.
"But the reality is it's not - it's part of playing cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. You've got to do everything right. It wasn't hard for the other 12 blokes to get it in on time and they took the time out to really reflect and do what's best for the team whereas
we four didn't. Right now I'm still hurting about it but in the long run I think it's going to make us a better team."
For now, the team will be hoping to avoid a possible series whitewash when they take on the hosts in the third Test, starting this Thursday.
