  1. Patty Schnyder's best shot at the top 10 is actually during the clay court season. Clay is arguably her best surface. While 500 points seems like a lot to defend they were only quarters and semi final finishes and a 4th round finish at the French.

If she wins one of these tier 1 events or make it to the quarters or semis at the French she could slide back in to the top 10.

Another thing too is Venus Williams is taking a break from tennis and is rumored t be pregnant so she could probably fall out of the top 10 bumping Schnyder up by default. Hantuchova is also out with injury so she could lose some points if she stays injured.

  2. if she can do a lot more better in the tours that she need to defend... and if she's healthy to play at her best in every tour... and if this result good..maybe she can get back to the top 10

  3. perhaps. but to be honest, she hasn't been that stellar thus far in 2008. she's been consistent enough to remain around 13-15 the last year but she hasn't had that big win in a long time. and against top opponents, she gets into these hardly fought, closely contested matches and she always seems to fade.

i think if anybody else will rise into the top 10 soon,it will be zvonareva...her results the last couple months have been impressive and finally after four final appearances she won prague.

  4. While a top ten ranking is not completely out of the question for Schnyder, it will most likely not come during the clay court season.

Patty played a very ambitious schedule in 2007 and needs to defend almost 500 ranking points between now and Roland Garros. If she does not perform well in the next month or so, she'll see her ranking fall even further.

  5. Patty Schnyder is one of the most consistent tennis players in the world.  I think she'll get back into the top 10 by the end of the year when everybody is tired.

  6. Does it really make a difference whether or not she's in hte top 10. She'll never win a grandslam. What else matters?
