Pau Gasol to carry the Spanish flag, Shannon Brown re-signs with Phoenix Suns – NBA News Roundup
Pau Gasol to bear the Spanish Flag at the London Olympics
Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol is set to bear the Spanish flag in the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics next Friday. The Spaniard has acknowledged this to be the happiest moment of his life.
“Very happy to be the carrier of the Spanish flag. One of the happiest moments of my career. Thanks Federations and COE”. Gasol tweeted.
The Spanish Olympic Federation had initially nominated tennis sensation Rafael Nadal for the honour, but Rafa pulled out of the Olympics yesterday due to knee issue, thus giving good friend Gasol a chance of lifetime.
This would add to the list of honours Gasol has achieved as being part of the Spanish contingent. He led Spain to a gold medal in the FIBA European Championships in the years 2009 and 2011 and also led his country to a silver medal
finish at the Beijing Olympics four years ago.

the Suns.
In his six years in NBA, Shannon has moved around quite a bit and the Suns were his fifth team. He was able to put in the best performances of his career last season by averaging 11 points per game and had earlier hinted towards
returning to Phoenix.
