Paul Allen and Chris Gillard retain lead in Handicap and Solo fleets: 2011 Open Revett Winter Series
Paul Allen on RS 300 and Chris Gillard on his Solo boat retained their top podium places in respective fleets, Handicap and Solo, on Day 3 of 2011 Open Revett Winter Series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club. Both Allen and Gillard are currently on first podium
spot with six points after six races, including two discards each.
Allen also earned ‘Officer of the Day’ points during his run to the top spot. On the other hand, Gillard, despite not participating in both races of Day 3, was able to retain his first place on the basis of two bullets and two second finishes in first two
days.
The largest fleet of the series, Handicap, started third day’s proceedings with 9 starters. Jez Entwistle, on Phantom, showed some outstanding sailing skills in both races and topped with two clear bullets over the 26-boat fleet. Allen did not compete in
first race while Paul Reid followed Entwistle on second spot. However, with two discards, Allen claimed the first podium position.
First race of Solo fleet could not be completed due to the weather factor but in the second race, Solo Fleet Captain of Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club, Mike Broatch, took an early lead from the start to win the race over Brian Holt.
