Paul Alvarez possible opponent for Manny Pacquiao in 2012 super fight – Boxing news
Owner of promotional company Top Rank, Robert ‘Bob’ Arum is very hopeful that he will be successful in an effort to win the 2012 super fight for the world number one pound-for-pound boxer, Manny Pacquiao.
The negotiations with Floyd Mayweather have broken off just because of financial disagreement between the two fighters. Now, undefeated Mexican Light Middleweight boxer, Saul Alvarez has been the strongest candidate of the 2012 super fight to compete with
Pacquiao.
There is going to be a split of $80 million between the two pugilists.
Currently, the Fighting Pride of the Philippines is scheduled to fight Juan Manuel Marquez at the end of this year on December 11, 2011. The two fighters will be face to face for the WBO Welterweight World Title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas,
United States. If Pacquiao wins this bout against Marquez then there will be definite talk between Pacquiao and Alvarez.
On the other hand, Saul Alvarez is scheduled to take on British Ryan Rhodes for their 12-round competitive bout at the Arena VFG in Jalisco, Mexico. Alvarez will be defending his WBC Light Middleweight title against him which he won through a unanimous points’
decision against the Mathew Hatton of Britain on May 3, 2011 fighting at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, California. If Alvarez wins this bout against Rhodes then the chances of Pacquiao vs. Alvarez bout are very bright.
According to Arum, the businessmen group of Far Eastern has offered $150 million prize money to them to make the mega fight possible. Arum added that it does not matter for the fighters how much money they are giving to them to be together in the ring but
the fight depends on the commission to approve it.
Hopefully, the results of the Alvarez vs. Pacquiao negotiations will be positive in the favour of boxing fans.
