Paul Anderson to take over from Nathan Brown as head coach of Huddersfield Giants
The Huddersfield Giants name Paul Anderson as successor of Nathan Brown for the coaching position of the squad.
Anderson is the best option for the soon-to -be vacant position, because he has already worked as an assistant to Brown and has also been proposed for promotion by the head coach.
The announcement about Anderson’s selection from the Giants’ quarters was made after Brown expressed his desire of moving back to the land down under, Australia, after his current contract expires by the end of next year.  As soon as this news emerged, the
managing director of the Giants, Richard Thewlis, without any delay named the next successor for the coveted coaching position.
It appeared that the decision was made promptly, because they wanted to rule out any room for the uncertainty after Brown’s exit, which may in turn had affected the team’s overall performance. Previously, the Giants had to go through something similar to
it, which had adversely affected the team’s morale. This explains their faster response to the Brown’s call this time.
While talking about his decision to bid farewell to the coaching position, Brown said, “It was a difficult decision to make as the players, the club and the whole local community has been very accepting and supportive of myself and my family. We remain 100%
committed to the Giants in 2012 but the management and myself decided it was in the best interests of everyone that this decision was made early and announced now to save all of the speculation. We can therefore now fully focus on 2012 and the job ahead. We
have an exciting squad for Super League XVII who are looking to continue to improve and grow together as a group.”
While explaining Anderson’s pick, Brown went on and said that for past four years they have seen him grow and it appears that he is best suited for the position. Brown added that Paul’s apprenticeship and the fact that he had played at the club, are one
of the biggest pluses for him, who knows that what is required of him to attract success for the club.
Anderson, who has previously played for Halifax, Bradford and St Helens, has inked a three-year deal at the club, which will keep him with the Giants until the end of 2015 staring from November 2012.
When Anderson was inquired about his response to the latest development at the club, he expressed his delight over it and explained that his primary focus for the time being is still on assisting Brown in preparing the squad for their upcoming Super League
season.
Paul also acknowledged that Brown had a huge impact on carving his coaching career which will always pay him off well in the longer run. He believed that he was lucky to have worked at Huddersfield, where he found inspiring personalities such as Jon Sharp
and Kieron Purtill, who helped him shape his coaching career.
It will be interesting to see how well this decision is going to go be in favour of Anderson, who still has a year remaining as the assistant coach to Brown, until the end of 2012. It is believed that this was very wise of the Giants to announce the future
contract already because now the soon to be head coach will focus more on learning and benefitting from the Brown’s coaching style, which he can then incorporate in his future coaching.
