Paul Azinger compares Tiger Woods with a mule’s "behind" for his indecent behaviour at Masters
The legendary Ryder Cup Captain Paul Azinger, who, in all this time, have been an ardent supporter of Tiger Woods in his bid to return to stardom, has finally spoken against him at his behaviour at the Augusta National last week.
Azinger went over to the extent of calling him a “south end of a northbound mule” for his club-kicking and verbal bashing at the final round of 76th Masters last week.
Azinger said, "Tiger's antics this week were an embarrassment to the game, to the membership at Augusta. I was really disappointed to see him carry on that way. And after he won Bay Hill I thought, 'here we go again, this is going to be Tiger just kicking
butt and taking names.' I thought he acted like the south end of a northbound mule”.
The harsh words used by Azinger beacons towards the fact that many of the American veterans of the sport have not appreciated the way Woods behaved at his consecutive losses in the final round.
Disappointed with his wayward swing, Woods shot a high of 74 on the final day to settle for the worst ever figures in his career in the Masters. He finished for a joint 40th.
Azinger added, “I can't compare my career to Tiger Woods' career for sure, but I'll say this, in the 28 years I've played golf for a living I've never been as lost as he looked out there”.
Woods, who shot back into form with his latest win at the PGA Tour, the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, was hoping to clinch his fifth Masters title last week and didn’t have the slightest idea that his swing workout will succumb to a total meltdown
on the final day.
His performance at the Augusta National last year was better than this year when he landed a joint fourth amid a tough field.
Woods now realises that the newly invented swing is hardly working for the former world number one.
Azinger, the 1993 PGA Championship winner, has always be a staunch supporter of Woods’ efforts to regain form. This is the first time he has spoken against Woods.
