Paul Biedermann clinches Men’s 400m freestyle gold - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Paul Biedermann of Germany clinched gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on day three of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday, December 14.
The German swimmer showed no mercy to his competitors in the 16-lap discipline as he proved his mettle for the title.
He faced touch contest from his rivals in the race but with his exceptional pace, Biedermann managed to surface on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 3 minutes and 39.15 seconds.
The champion was followed by Yun Hao of China, who stayed 0.33 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal with an effort of 3 minutes and 39.48 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Mads Glaesner of Denmark, who stayed 0.61 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and hit the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 40.09 seconds.
Glaesner was traced by Matthew Stanley of New Zealand, who remained 0.92 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 41.01 seconds for fourth place.
Fifth spot of the discipline was obtained by Michael Klueh of USA, who was 0.28 seconds behind and paved his way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 3 minutes and 41.29 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Pal Joensen, who was 0.94 seconds slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 3 minutes and 42.23 seconds.
Joensen remained 0.25 seconds faster from Ahmed Mathlouthi of Tunisia, who failed to make a significant improvement in his pace and surfaced on the wall as seventh fastest swimmer by producing a time of 3 minutes and 42.48 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was obtained by Anders Lie Nielsen of Denmark, who was 0.32 seconds apart and concluded his race in eighth place by touching the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 42.80 seconds.
Furthermore, Biedermann was overjoyed with his notable form in the race and raked medal after the session.
