Paul Biedermann pockets Men’s 400m freestyle gold: Day one – European LC Championship
World champion, Paul Biedermann of Germany pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on primary day of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Monday, May 21.
The 25-year-old Biedermann demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the mediocre distance freestyle event and defended his title in a comfortable manner.
He experienced strong resistance from his competitor, Gergo Kis of Hungary, throughout the event but with his magnificent efforts, Biedermann managed to reach the podium for gold medal.
With his persistent efforts, Biedermann occupied gold medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 47.84 seconds.
His strongest competitor, Kis stayed 0.25 seconds apart and followed him on the victory stand for second position by producing a time of 3 minutes and 48.09 seconds.
He was trailed by Samuel Pizzetti of Italy, who stayed 0.57 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing blockade with the timing of 3 minutes and 48.66 seconds for third position.
The bronze medallist was chased by Robbie Renwick of Great Britain, who was 1.80 seconds behind and concluded his race in a time of 3 minutes and 50.46 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth spot of the event was obtained by Sebastien Rouault of France, who was just 0.16 seconds slower from overpowering his former finisher and posted a time of 3 minutes and 50.62 seconds.
Rouault was traced by Gabriele Detti of Italy, who stayed 1.30 seconds slower from upsetting his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 3 minutes and 51.92 seconds.
Subsequently, Detti remained nearly half body length ahead of his following swimmer, Evgeny Kulikov, who secured seventh position of the discipline by reporting a time of 3 minutes and 52.57 seconds.
Finally, Patrik Rakos of Hungary, who failed to overwhelm any of his challengers in the playoff, ended his swim in eighth best place by reporting a time of 3 minutes and 52.80 seconds.
In addition, the arena enjoyed exhausting efforts of all participants in their exclusive event while the position holders received accolades at the prize distribution ceremony after the session.
