Paul Campbell-James’ Luna Rossa leads on Day 2 at Cowes: 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 5
Italy’s Luna Rossa grabbed a sound lead on the second day of Extreme Sailing Series Act 5 with a total of 60 points after nine races. Luna Rossa skipper Paul Campbell-James sailed tremendously along with his crew members, Max Sirena, Alister Richardson and
Manuel Modena on Day Two to claim the top spot in the standings.
The skipper of the Italian Luna Rossa, Campbell-James has complete knowledge of Cowes waters and how to sail under extreme conditions, as he braved the 20 to 25-knot breeze blowing across the race site. Luna Rossa did witnessed big gusts in the early races
of the day as the 12-boat fleet split into two groups to perform in the second day’s proceedings.
However, Leigh McMillan-skippered The Wave, Muscat finished second with 51 points. The Extreme Sailing Series also saw a terrible incident on Day Two, as Artemis Racing crashed against Groupe Edmond de Rothschild of France in their first race of the day.
Both boats got severely damaged and quit the competition for the rest of the day. However, despite the accident Groupe Edmond de Rothschild is still third in overall standings.
The overall standings after nine races at Cowes are given below:

5. Red Bull Extreme Sailing (AUT), Roman Hagara, Hans Peter Steinacher, Will Howden, Luke Cross = 42 points
