Paul Casey back on the course to test his injury recovery - Golf News
Paul Casey, who has not been seen in action since the snowboarding accident in December 2011, will make his 2012 season’s debut at the World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship starting from Thursday, March 8, 2012.
Casey missed each and every event in the opening two months because of his dislocated shoulder.
It even sidelined him from the Volvo Golf Champions, where he was supposed to defend his title.
However, he now feels comfortable and says that his injury has "probably" been healed 90 per cent and he is ready to return to action at the Cadillac Championship.
"It is certainly good enough to hit golf balls and get back on the golf course," said Casey.
"I have had really good rehab. Luckily there was no surgery. It is feeling strong, and just now got to get all that work I've been putting into the shoulder, now I have to do a lot of work on the golf game to get the golf game back," he stated.
According to the player, the most important thing to consider was that he did not need any surgery, which could have caused him to stay away from the game for at least six years.
This was a sign of relief for him, as he did not want to take most of the season off because of a minor accident.
Despite missing the whole European Tour's Middle East swing, Volvo Championship and the Accenture Match Play Championship, Casey is happy to make a comeback prior to the start of first major event of the year, the Masters Tournament.
"I didn't miss any majors, and that was the fortunate timing of it," he said.
He continued, "Looking at 25 events this year, I've missed a fifth, I think I'll throw in some events as the golf game gets stronger and as the year goes on, get some more in and still try to play my 25 this year".
Currently, the only point that is making him feel worried is to work hard in order to book his place in the European Ryder Cup team that will contend against the United States team this year.
