Paul Casey regrets being too technical in 2010
With 2010 almost over, players are now looking at their year in review. As for the English player Paul Casey, 2010 was a decent year but now he feels it could have been better.
Even though he was recovering from a rib injury, the English golfer managed to be in the top ten of Official World Golf Rankings. His year wasn’t that bad but Casey thinks his tactics were short of that ‘killer instinct’. Paul believes that had he not been
so technical this year, it could have been more fruitful.
The one thing bothering Casey the most is not winning this year. The 33 year old did not win in any of the tournaments he played across the globe. Paul did work on his swing and really worked hard to improve his game. Ending with no trophy at the end of
year despite so much hard work is bound to get frustrating. And according to Paul, it is.
"I played some very good golf, gave myself lots of opportunities but didn't close anything out. So from that angle I'm not happy," said Casey. "It's another season where I felt like I have progressed and I am a better player than I was before, trying to
tick all the boxes on things that need work.”
Paul had seven top ten finishes in the seventeen tournaments he played on the PGA Tour. Especially noted are his two runner-up finishes at the BMW Championship and WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. Casey even took part in the Ryder Cup this year that
took place at Celtic Manor in October.
Casey said that this is yet another year where one feels like he is a much better player now. He has overcome the little things that flawed his game but wishes he had played more aggressively. According to Casey, one does have to take chances if he wants
to win a tournament. Playing wisely will get you good results; however, a little killer instinct is essential if you want to win.
Next year, Paul not only wants to win, but also wants to be triumphant in a major. With three Europeans winning majors this year, Casey hopes to earn the same fame like Martin Kaymer, Louis Oosthuizen and Graeme McDowell did.
With 2011 season nearby, Casey is hoping to put all his regrets behind. Revising his skills and boosting his confidence, Casey hopes to play better next year.
