Paul Casey’s next win might be around the corner
Paul Casey has had a troubled season so far. The Englishman was inflicted by injuries and hence suffered bad results throughout. More than that, he is yet to win a title this year.
Since turning pro in 2000, Paul has had a topsy turvy career, which saw him winning frequently on the European Tour, with just a lone victory on the PGA Tour.
His best finish at a major has been T3 at the Open Championships in 2010. Casey has seen his highs as well.
In 2009, he had his career’s best ranking of the world number three. Being the world number three is a tough task and not anybody can claim that spot. One has to earn it with sheer hard work.
However, it seems that things are starting to group together for the current world number 132 after a torrid season.
In the last two tournaments, the Englishman has been playing some very good golf and he himself feels that his maiden this year might just be around the corner.
At the recently concluded ISPS Handa Perth International, Paul had a T5 finish, which was preceded by a T3 finish on the Asian Tour. Such results prove that things are starting to pull together for the Englishman.
Currently, he is ranked 132 in the world and is on the 135th spot in the Race to Dubai. Only the top 60 get a chance to play at the DP World Tour Championships.
"This is the best I've felt in probably a few years, and the form is coming around really nicely," said Casey.
"With the form I'm starting to show, it's a case of wanting to be out there, playing as much as I can, and I feel it's not going to be long before I'm back in the winner's circle."
"I'm still not in Dubai but the goal is to win before the end of the year - simple as that," he said.
Currently, the Englishman is not focusing on the Race to Dubai event. Instead, he is searching for his maiden victory.
If he manages to win this season, it would be a big success for him, as he has been suffering from a shoulder injury since the start of the season.
He stated, "So I think I'm going to ignore trying to get into Dubai and just try to win. That solves every problem".
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see whether he can accomplish what he has been struggling for throughout the season.
A good finish, before the year ends, could really change the scenario for Paul Casey. Moreover, a high note at the end can certainly boost things up for the next season.
