England all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PD-Collingwood-c2173, on Thursday, declared that he will retire from Test Cricket after the final Sydney Ashes Test against Australia.
Collingwood disclosed his retirement first to his teammates on Wednesday, then the decision was confirmed by England Cricket Board on fifth Ashes Test.
The England and Wales Cricket Board stated that the 34-year-old batsman will remain as England’s Twenty20 captain and will play for England’s one-day team. In addition, he is expected to play a vital role in England’s World Cup
campaign, starting on February 19.

Collingwood took the decision in the middle of a poor Ashes series, scoring just 83 runs in his six innings at the number five batting position.
"Representing England at Test level has always been a dream of mine and I've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed some amazing highs throughout my Test career," Collingwood said in a statement.
He said that he was proud of the fact that he has always given his all for the England Test team, but believes that this is the right time to leave test cricket, having reached some very special achievements, and the most satisfying
was retaining the Ashes in Australia.
“We have a wealth of talent pushing for places in the England test team,” Collingwood said.

Collingwood has scored 10 centuries and also taken 17 wickets in test Cricket, including the important wicket of Mike Hussey in this match. He has also played 189 limited-overs Internationals.
