The pitch had some assistance for the bowlers, as there was movement off the seam and in the air. This allowed the seamers to trouble the batsmen throughout the innings.
Ryan White and Robert Keogh opened the innings for the visitors, but they failed to give a solid start to the team.
White was the first man to be dismissed in the innings after collecting just a couple of runs in his short stay at the crease. He was followed by Keogh, who only managed one run from seven balls in his unimpressive outing.
Botha came into bat at number three, but was unable to lead his side out of trouble, getting out cheaply. The Proteas all-rounder collected seven runs off 13 balls with the help of one four before being dismissed.

The lower-order failed to cope with the treacherous conditions and the entire team was dismissed for 47 runs. Ireland’s Niall O’Brien remained unbeaten on 14 and was the only player to reach double figures in the Northamptonshire innings.
The day belonged to Collingwood, who ended up with figures of 5/6 in his three overs. He was declared as player-of-the-match for his outstanding figures.
