Paul Collingwood claims he is full fit for Big Bash – Cricket News Update
England’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PD-Collingwood-c2173 has claimed that he is fully fit to represent Perth Scorchers in the upcoming Big Bash Twenty20 League, despite not playing any competitive cricket for the past three months.
Although the veteran player has been practising hard in the nets for the past one month, he lacks match practice, which might cause him a few problems to adjust straight away in competitive cricket.
However, the 35-year-old all-rounder claimed, “I don't think it's crucial that I get match practice in before the Big Bash. I'm sure there'll be plenty of practice sessions going on before the main games but it would be great if the body was able to do it
to go out and play Saturday.”
He further went onto say, “I felt good in the nets and it's nice to know that all the hard work I've done obviously in the indoor school back home over the last month-and-a-half has done something.”
Collingwood last played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
However, the veteran cricketer was unable to make an impression in the Mega Event and struggled to score runs consistently.
Due to his miserable run in the World Cup, Collingwood was dropped from the side and admitted that it would be hard for him to fight back for a place in the team once again.
However, he continued working hard at the domestic level and scored some runs in all formats of the game.
Hard work paid off for the English player, as he was selected by the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash, starting this December.
This will be a good opportunity for the former England Twenty20 skipper to score some runs and prove his worth to the national selectors.
Collingwood was the captain of the English side that won the Twenty20 World Cup in 2010. His performances in Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket were unimpressive after that, leading him to be sacked.
However, the experienced all-rounder believes that he has plenty to offer in the shortest version of the game and will be working hard to fight his way back in the team before the next Twenty20 World Cup in 2012.
