England’s veteran all-rounder, Paul Collingwood, is eager to make a comeback in his national team as he believes that he can still be an ideal substitute for any injured player.
Colly hopes that his upcoming stint in the Big Bash League T20 tournament of Australia will help him test his form and make the English selectors realise that he can play International competitive cricket for some more years.
The star cricketer has joined Perth Scorchers to play the revamped BBL, starting from next month. He claims that this event is a challenge for him to prove his stamina.
Talking to the media today, Collingwood said, “I’m still ambitious to get back into the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 side. It will be great testing myself in Australia - in their backyard, there will be a lot of pressure being an overseas pro in an Aussie team and a Pom in Australia;
that will bring its own pressure.”
Colly has not played a single International match since the ICC World Cup 2011. He announced retirement from Test cricket after playing the last Ashes season. He also handed over the T20I captaincy baton to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 a few months back. However, in the
intervening period, he played for his home County side, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782, and took it to the semi-final round of the Clydesdale Bank 40 event.
Now, the pacer c*m middle-order batter wants to rejoin the Poms. He stated, “I want to keep testing myself as a cricketer and I think the Big Bash is a good route to go down. If I can have a good six months of that type of cricket and do really well, then
you never know.”
Despite Collingwood’s piercing ambition, the English are not likely to accommodate him in the near future as they currently have perfect bench strength. However, if the all-rounder achieves some glaring marks in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, he can be considered for selection.
The 35-year-old has played 68 Test, 197 ODI and 35 T20I matches so far, displaying excellent performances with both bat and ball. The right-hander marvellously led the English to clinch the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils
in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
