Paul Deighton promises better ticketing for London Olympics 2012
Paul Deighton, who is the chief executive of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, has recently given assurances to the public about the ticketing system of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Now that six months are left for the time until the Games to begin in the capital of England, the prospective buyers have been assured that neither the ticketing system nor the official website of the Olympic Games will be seen to create problems.
There have been several problems with the ticketing system of Olympic Games since the time that the process started.
First of all, the public was not satisfied with the ballot style ticketing system that was adopted by the Games as that left the prospective buyers in anticipation of whether they would get the seats or not.
The name of the applicants who got the tickets in the first round of the ticket sales was selected in ballot style and even then it was not certain that the applicant would get the event for which they opted for.
The public has been told of the long term benefits that the Olympic Games will generate specially in terms of financial profits. The expected economic benefits that are believed to be obtained from the Olympic Games are said to be £2.5billion. However, this
economic profit will be obtained over a period of three years after the Olympic Games.
Jeremy Hunt, who is the culture secretary, expressed himself on the matter in the following manner, “This isn’t just about tangible benefits. If we get the Games right we can transform confidence. This is a unique opportunity to bang the drum and if we get
it right we can have a tremendous impact. We hope it has a boost for global confidence too.”
During the start of the ticket sales, there were a total of one million applicants who failed to secure a ticket during the ballot that was conducted.
According to Deighton, these people would be preferred in the next round of the ticket sales that have 1.3 million tickets in stock. The ticket sales will open from in April.
