Paul Denning unhappy over Suzuki’s withdrawal from MotoGP championship – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki Team Manager, Paul Denning expressed his displeasure on the withdrawal of the Suzuki form MotoGP World Championship.
The English-based Japanese team was seen fighting positively in the 2011 season. Bautista also improved a lot despite of a fracture on his left femur at season start in Qatar.
Denning experienced big disappointment as Suzuki revealed its plan to step out of MotoGP class for at least 2014.
Apparently, the Japanese manufacturer plans to sit back for 2013 and return in 2014, but it is not sure about the comeback.
Denning shared his views with Motorcyclenews.com and said, “The biggest disappointment for me is the guys on the team who are so capable and have been so loyal to Suzuki and the team. The very late timing of the decision has left a large number of the guys
in a difficult position for the future.”
He was running the team since the 2006 season and had a strong passion to improve his pace. The company faced economic crises as an effect of world economic recession.
Denning added, “I’m doing my best to help where I can in terms of looking for new opportunities and taking some of them into the Crescent Suzuki fold as well but it is a difficult situation because you do travel, work and operate as a second family.”
The team manager said that he feels very sad for his team members and that waited until the last moment of the season for Suzuki’s official decision.
He tends to move some of the crewmembers to his Crescent Suzuki team. He also shared his utter disappointment on Suzuki’s decision, because he spent many years in improving the team and the GSV-R.
Coming to the end of the 2011 season the bike and team rider Alvaro Bautista displayed significant improvement. Bautista was able to take front row start on the grid.
Although he was saddened due to the withdrawal but he respects the company decision for its precautions to save the brand name.
He feels that at the moment it was not a good idea to step out of the championship. Looking at team’s performance though it was not winning, but it had gained the potential to stand in top riders’ pack.
