Paul Di Resta would be pleased with Mercedes’ drivers seat: Formula 1 News
Force India's driver, Paul Di Resta has admitted that he can see himself with Petronas-sponsored team in the near future. The Scotsman really impressed the viewers in 2011 season’s initial races. His existing links with Mercedes GP have triggered rumours
that he could replace with the struggling seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher.
The 25-year-old driver told the media that he will definitely not mind Mercedes, as he was a part of this team, before moving towards his current team. He added that his switch to Mercedes can make him bit happy, because he won his 2010 year’s DTM series
on this platform and that was one of the best moments of his career.
Di Resta still feels that he was a part of Mercedes family, however he will not mind to be part of it again in his future.
He admitted that right now he is driving for Force India team, so he has to focus on his current team’s progress in the ongoing season. The current DTM champion added, “They have had a huge influence on my career and I'm very grateful to them. It is great
that people are talking but at the same time I have got to keep progressing. I never take anything for granted. It is important to have ambitions, of course, but I try just to stay focused on each individual thing and not worry too much about the future.”
He discussed his previous year’s record in Formula 3 sport, where ended his race with some points ahead of Sebastian Vettel in Euro Series championship in 2006. He insisted that after this it does not mean he is better than the current world champion.
Presently, Vettel is a very strong driver of Formula 1, as he won last season’s World Championship too. Moreover, he still has the ability to compete with the competitive rivals. However, nobody can compare the past with present, so he cannot consider him
better than the reigning world champion.
Di Resta kicked off to a good season; however his manager Anthony Hamilton predicted a ‘bright’ future of his driver with a top team of Formula 1.
He added, "I would like to think there is an interest. We’ve not spoken to anyone but for sure Paul is a Mercedes protégé and Norbert has said some very complimentary things about him. I'm just really proud of him.”
The Mercedes driver Schumacher had announced that he will complete his contract with the team at the end of 2012 year. Due to the Schumacher’s retirement rumours, Di Resta showed his interest towards his previous team. However, time will decide that who
will become part of Mercedes in place of the 42-year-old driver.
