Paul Harrison considers John Kear a huge endorsement for Batley Bulldogs – Rugby League news
Paul Harrison, the General Manager of Batley Bulldogs mentioned in the press conference that the former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ coach, John Kear is a huge endorsement for their second-tier franchise.
This meeting was scheduled on Wednesday, September 14
After ending his five-year stint at his former club, Kear dashed for this opportunity at Bulldogs. Kear will overtake Karl Harrison as Bulldogs’ head coach, who will join in with Halifax, the rival championship franchise.
Paul thanked Batley’s outgoing coach and stated, “We obviously owe Karl a massive thank you for all his efforts over the past few seasons.”
He mentioned that Paul’s role in bringing home the silverware and picking the squad cannot be neglected.
He further added that Batley would love to have Karl back next year at the Mount. While speaking about his ex-coach for so many years which definitely added to Bulldogs overall profile, the General Manager added, “The arrival of John is a huge endorsement
of the progress we have made as a club in recent times and we are delighted that such a proven winner has chosen to associate himself with the Bulldogs brand as Head Coach.  There is little doubt that exciting times are ahead for everyone concerned with the
club under John Kear’s leadership and we are looking forward to assembling our 2012 squad and cementing our position as one of the most progressive clubs in British RL.”
There are hopes clinched to Kear’s move to Bulldogs, as Kear is a big name in the world of rugby. His contributions in sweeping Hull FC to the Challenge Cup glory cannot be sidelined.
His five-year spell at his previous franchise may not be great in terms of their league standing with the league hierarchy, but Wildcats have qualified for the Super League License for the next three years games.
This Super League license was an unexpected win for Wildcats, which came their way as Crusaders had pulled themselves out of the licensing process. Crusaders’ withdrawal was a shock for the entire outfit along but it was decided by the boss of the club because
of the financial constraints on the club.
