Paul Hennessy’s training made him achieve three victories in one night
The 550 yards' Ladbrokes.com Irish Derby, held on the 11th of August at Shelbourne Park, made trainer Paul Hennessy shine like a star. Hennessy has been one of the most successful greyhound trainers with his hound, Group Skater, winning the Ladbrokes
Golden Jacket 2010, among other achievements.
The successor of three heats was on cloud nine that night as Paul Hennessy's greyhounds' performances borught him in the centre of the spotlight.
The excitement began after the end of Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby's Round 2, Heat 4, when Paul Hennessy’s Hello Ringo finished first, followed by Hennssy’s Barefoot Admiral, 5 lengths behind Hello Ringo, finishing second in the race.
The 550 yard Open Race was held at 9:10 PM, in which the black hound, Hello Ringo, son of Tyrur Tara out of Maryville Rumble, covered the distance in 29 minutes and 73 seconds.
Since the beginning of the race he was very fast and gradually leading the race, thus, his outstanding performance helped him finish first and win the purse of €250.
Barefoot Admiral, a black dog, son of Anville Dame out of Crash, also raced above expectations, giving his best in the race by covering the distance in 30 minutes and 13 seconds.
Following Hello Ringo and Barefoot Admiral was N Savva’s Droopys Greg who finished third. The two-year-old was 1 length behind Barefoot Admiral, crossing the wire in 30 minutes and 13 seconds.
Paddy Design trained by T Clyne came forth by covering the distance in 30 minutes and 27 seconds. The three-year-old son of Clydal Susie out of Droopys Scolari was slow throughout the race, finishing ¾ of a length behind Droopys Greg.
Tyrur Breheny, trained by Fahy, came fifth and trainer O’Connor’s Deerfield Sings came sixth, 1 ½ length behind Tyrur in 30 minutes and 40 seconds.
When Heat 6 of Round 2 started, Paul Hennessy’s Droopys Comedian, a three-year-old black dog, started his chase and covered the distance in 29 minutes and 68 seconds to win the purse of €250.
Hughes’s Cuil Cougar, who was 4 lengths behind the winner, came second by covering the distance in 30 minutes.
Simple Class, trained by O’Donovan, finished third, covering the distance in the same time as Cuil Cougar.
Shaneboy Fantasy finished fourth while Cian Jamie and Tyrur Carey finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Last but not the least, in Heat 4, Paul Hennessy’s three-year-old hound, Colorful Champ, stood first and won the purse of €250, covering the distance in 29 minutes and 68 seconds.
Colorful Champ defeated his contender, Piercestown Sand, who was ¾ lengths behind the winner and came second by covering the distance in 29 minutes and 74 seconds.
O’Neill’s Dream Walker, who was 2 lengths behind Piercestown Sand, came third, reaching the wire in 29 minutes and 90 seconds.
Fahy’s Tyrur Richie came fourth while De Ex Factor and Ballymac Reilly, who scored fifth and sixth position, respectively.
