Former England captain Paul Ince has gone on to express his concerns for the current English national team and has gone as far as to state that the new generation of players have no sense of pride, while representing their country on the international stage.
England recently took on Wales in an international and managed to emerge with the narrowest of wins, with the score card reading one goal to nil in favour of England. However, during the game, it seemed like the English players had very little to no interest
of playing against their opponents and the players disinterest was rather disappointing to look at.
A very disappointed and angry Paul Ince is quoted to have said: “We're giving out caps like confetti”
He then went on to admit that players now focus on club competitions, as opposed to international matches, as he went on to add:
“Playing for England used to be the pinnacle of your career. Now it's not that important as we have the Champions League and Premier League.”
Ince then went on to admit that there is a massive difference between the players, which becomes apparent by looking at their attitude, when they earn call-ups to the national team. On a number of occasions, players pick up surprising injuries during their
call-ups and are fit once the international matches are over.
“If you get called up, you should make sure you're there,” he insisted.
“Nowadays, there are people who make excuses - they've got a knock, they're injured - because they want to be fit for that game at the weekend.”
It is very hard not to agree with the former Manchester United player, as he is spot on with his remarks about the English squad.
During the game against Wales, England seemed like they were being forced to participate in the game. The team would have end up drawing the game, has Wales managed to score in the second half from a glorious opportunity. However, a quick goal by Ashley
Young proved to be enough to help guide the team to victory in the end.

Nonetheless, if England are to stand any chance of finishing the upcoming Euro 2012 in a half decent position, then they are going to have to get their act together sooner rather than later.
