Konerko was much excited as he said, “Hopefully this win can get the vibe a little bit better in here.”
Both the teams were unable to post even a single run in the first two innings. Alex Rios took a lead-off walk to open the scoring account for the White Sox in the third inning and posted a run on the single of Juan Pierre to take a 1-0 lead. Pierre was energetic in the field as he took a diving catch of Brain Roberts to save two runs for his team.
The White Sox' manager, Ozzie Guillen, was pleased with the way Pierre fielded in the ground. He said, “Juan made a play in the outfield, that was big for us. The game was on the line. I turned to Joey [Cora] and I said the ball is finally starting to bounce our way.”

In the sixth inning, Adam Dunn made a walk with one out on the loaded bases while Gordon Beckham reached at third base to move the score-card to 3-0 for the White Sox. Rios hit his second homer of the season in the seventh inning and led off the White Sox with 4-0.

Derrek Lee hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lessen the trail a little bit and ended up in 6-2.
The Orioles' starter, Jeremy Guthrie, gave away four runs on five hits including four earned runs and struck out four batters with two walks in seven inning pitches. The Orioles' Manager, Buck Showalter, was satisfied with the performance of Guthrie and said, “He was good. Gave up solo home runs and didn't have any margin of error. I'd like to see us get ahead there a little bit. It's frustrating, he had good stuff.”
On the other side, the White Sox starter, Mark Buehrle, also played a crucial role in his Clubs’ victory. He pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed no run on eight hits with four strike-outs. Buehrle got out Matt Wieters on a grounder and restricted the Orioles without run in the fourth inning as Adam Jones was about to complete a lead-off double.
