Paul Konerko’s triple RBIs guide Chicago White Sox over Boston Red Sox, 7-4 – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox’ first baseman, Paul Konerko had a notable day as he went 3-for-4 and hit three RBIs including one home run in the White Sox’ 7-4 win against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, Boston on June 1.
The White Sox clinched a three-game series 3-0 after this convincing victory. The batters did not post any run on the score-board during the first inning. In the very next inning, the Red Sox batters stepped on the gas and exploded three runs. Jed Lowrie
hit a ground rule double to deep right-field and David Ortiz scored one run. The last two runs of the second inning were taken by Carl Crawford and Lowrie on the single-run shot of Jarrod Saltalamacchia to centre-field.
The Red Sox took a 3-0 lead at the end of second inning. The pitchers were on top in the third inning as they did give up any runs. The White Sox opened their scoring account in the fourth inning by adding one run. Brent Lillibridge doubled to left-field
and Alexei Ramirez added one run during the fourth inning.
The game was tied 3-3 in the fifth inning when Ramon Castro and Juan Pierre both singled to complete a two-run campaign. Both teams scored one run during the sixth inning and the game remained level 4-all. Lillibridge homered (371 feet) towards left-field
to add one run for the White Sox. On the other side, Ortiz boosted up the momentum of the Red Sox by hitting a one-run homer (387 feet) to left-field.
During the seventh inning of the game, Konerko singled to left-field, Ramirez posted one run and Carlos Quentin occupied third base. The White Sox went ahead 5-4 after the seventh. No score was contributed from any batter during the eighth inning. Konerko
struck a solo homer (427 feet) towards left-field and Ramirez posted his third run to give the White Sox a 7-4 lead.
Chicago’s Manager Ozzie Guillen commented on Konerko’s homer and said, “The biggest (hit) to me was (Konerko's). You really don't want to be up by (only) one in this ballpark against that ballclub because you never know what's going to happen.”
Gavin Floyd threw six innings with an ERA of 3.84 and gave four runs on nine hits including four earned runs.
