The English Premier League side are now confirmed to be in talks with the 27-year-old in a deal which is believed to be in the range of 2.5-3 million pounds. Lambert admitted that talks had been ongoing with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 and a conclusion would be reached soon.
Lambert said in an interview:
“We're in talks at this moment, those talks are ongoing and we hope to reach a positive conclusion with Feyenoord and the player.
Karim is a player who I feel could definitely improve our squad. He has experience of big club football and also at international level.
He can pass the ball well and he could be an important player for us in central midfield. Let's see how things progress. We're very hopeful.”
The Moroccan defensive midfielder began his youth career at a local Enschede side UDI and was soon noticed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 scouts. El Ahmadi was invited to join the youth academy, which he did, graduating to the senior squad in 2004.
It was in March of 2004 that El Ahmadi went on to make his official debut for FC Twente, against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 in a 2-0 win. He managed to secure a place in the first team and his efforts were notable in helping his side earn a spot in the Champions League
in the 2007-2008 season.
The attacking midfielder made 92 appearances in all competitions from 2004 onwards and managed to find the back of the three times in four seasons. He transferred to Feyenoord in the summer of 2008 for a fee of 5 million Euros on a five year deal.
His debut was delayed as he picked up an injury, but eventually went on to feature for the side in the UEFA Cup win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018, which Feyenoord unfortunately lost 2-0 at home. Since then El Ahmadi has been on loan
to Al Ahli Dubai in 2011 where he made 10 appearances in the league and scored a single goal.
