Given.
Since then Aston Villa are determined to sign the goalkeeper on a long term deal, but Guzan has apparently already rejected an offer by them. Lambert is certain the American stopper can go on to establish himself as the first choice goalkeeper in the upcoming
season.
Lambert said while speaking to reporters:
“I've watched Brad and some of his games when he was in the team last year and he was excellent.
I know he's always had the stigma of being the No.2 behind some really good goalkeepers here. But when you come back at the start of the season nobody knows what's going to happen and it depends on whoever does well.”
Guzan joined the English Premier League side in the summer transfer window of 2008 for an estimated fee of 600,000 pounds. He joined the Villans as soon as he was granted the work permit, going on to make his debut in September in the League Cup against
Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.
His best performance came in the UEFA Cup clash against Slavia Prague in November under then manager Martin O’Neill, with Guzan making various important saves. His form in the 1-0 win led the manager to describe him as a “class goalkeeper in the making.”
He has made 19 appearances in all competitions since 2008, which is why the American goalkeeper is now looking for a move away. Lambert though, is keen on retaining the services of Guzan and revealed he hoped the 27-year-old would eventually decide to stay
with the club.
He continued:
“Brad played very well the time he was in and maybe he found himself a bit unlucky to be back out. The club needs two or three good goalkeepers.”
