The new Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has revealed he intends on making his side play to their strengths as he starts pre-season training with them.
Since replacing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish as the manager at the club, Lambert will be addressing the squad for the very first time today. After a very poor finish last season where they barely avoided relegation by just two points, the hierarchy at the club decided it
was time for change.
They decided to bring in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert, the former Norwich City manager. He is expected to bring a positive change at the club and according to his statements; he is determined to bring the best out of the players at the club in the upcoming season.
The 42-year-old Scotsman was looking forward to speaking to the players for the very first time since taking over. He was certain the squad would be fresh for the upcoming season, having enjoyed some time off before pre-season was scheduled to kick off.
Lambert said in an interview:
“It's the first day for everyone and it's new and fresh. When a new manager comes in, there is always a bit of trepidation amongst the players about what is going to happen.
But we are not going to complicate things and hopefully they will respond and, if they do that, then we'll be fine.”
Lambert has no intentions of complicating things for the players, he revealed he was going to speak to the entire team and not try and alienate any of the players. He was hopeful of handling things successfully and leading Aston Villa to success in the upcoming
season.
He continued:
“I'll speak to them as a group and then I might speak to one or two individuals to get a bit of background about what it's been like.
I think mentality is important in terms of how you handle things and how you deal with players, and hopefully the players will get the same ideas as myself.”
The former footballer, Lambert, began his managerial career with Livingston, moving on to Wycombe Wanderers, Colchester United, Norwich City and now finally Aston Villa.
