Paul Lawrie eyes the BMW International Open after a successful start to the year, things are going his way!
After the US Open finishing in a disappointment for big names, the BMW International Open brings hope once again in the world of golf.
Paul Lawrie is among many who are confident that they can win the BMW International Open. Lawrie is one of the most successful golfers this year, with numerous victories world over including the Race to Dubai.
The 43-year-old is eyeing the BMW International Open with all the positive notes and believes that he will stand out among the rest. He is the number one golfer of Scotland and is looking impressive.
“My profile has been raised by winning a couple of times and being Scotland’s top ranked golfer is huge, I would like to be a bit higher, but the Foundation is doing well, the sponsors are happy, and hopefully now I can keep on rising and make it even better,”
said the Scottish golfer.
This year, big names have flunked. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, they have all fallen short of their names. The US Open was a shocker in every way.
Woods was the only player who had a reasonable start at the US Open. His play had the old flavour and precision was visible in his stroke play.
The Tiger of golf still remains the most popular golfer among fans and has been voted as the top bet to win the British Open as well.
The current world number one Luke Donald was an embarrassment of a new level. Before the US Open, he was under pressure as the entire England was on him to win the US Open. Donald even mentioned the Queen as his fan.
Donald was a victim of the Queen’s pressure and missed the cut early in the US Open.
McIlroy was complaining a little too much about the course being tough. The former US Open champion failed to defend his title and left the same difficult course with ease.
Lawrie has been away from all of this and has been playing golf at its best.
“I’m not going to the BMW looking for £10k to help my Ryder Cup prospects, I am going to play as well as I can,” said Lawrie.
