Paul Lawrie made a surprise visit to his friends, tying on the eighth position at Augusta
Paul Lawrie is playing the Masters Tournament and is doing well on the course. He also made a visit on Tuesday, at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course to see his old friend.
The 43-year-old Scottish professional golf player opened the first round on Thursday and scored 3-under 69. He made one bogey on the front nine holes of the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
Later, he impressed all the spectators on the course by scoring two amazing eagles on the 13th and the 15th hole. Then he scored one birdie and ended the round by bogeying on the 18th hole.
On Friday, he teed off early in the morning and scored four birdies and four bogeys in the second round of the Masters.
He finished at-par and is now tied on the 8th leaderboard position with three other professional players.
Before the tournament, he desired to see his old friends and made a visit to meet Scottish Brian Hendry and Ronald McDonald.
"They asked us to come up and have a look around," Lawrie said for both of his friends. "They are friends of mine from a long, long time ago".
Lawrie also said that McDonald is a friend from 1980’s and he knows Hendry since the late 80’s. At that time, both of them were amateurs and played golf at lower levels.
The nature of the visit was to cheer his fellow colleagues and to surprise them. Moreover, Lawrie also wants to motivate them for the upcoming tournaments in Georgia.
“I think it will take him a little bit of time to get it where he wants it," Lawrie said. "It's good. It's a nice layout and the clubhouse is lovely. I'm sure they'll do a good job. They're good lads. Hopefully, they'll do well".
Lawrie currently holds the 43rd rank in the Official World Golf Rankings. He is doing a great job at the Masters and is confident to be impressive in the upcoming two rounds.
He has played different tournaments staged by the European Tour in the current year and successfully won the title of the Commercialbank Qatar Masters in February.
His form is outstanding. He has ample chances to make a debut victory at the Masters this year. The only need of time is to score more birdies and fewer bogeys.
