Paul Lawrie not taking any chances and concentrating on the Scottish Open
Paul Lawrie is getting ready for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, which starts from the 12th of July 2012. The four-day event is going to take place at the Castle Stuart golf course. Lawrie is just getting ready for the event to get
in the Ryder Cup.
Lawrie will be appearing in the Ryder Cup after 13 years. He has done enough to get in the Ryder Cup. He is currently on the number 3rd spot, with only six weeks left in the Cup to start.
At the moment, Lawrie himself has called playing his National Open 'a dangerous road to go down'. Right now, Lawrie should be concentrating on the Ryder Cup.
He should be getting ready for the event and preferably should take rest before representing Europe in the title race.
Nonetheless the 43-year-old is taking no chances and working his way through the Ryder Cup.
In his view, anything could change during this time. He is planning to work hard till the team list is finally out.
The lists will be out on the 26th of August. Till then, Lawrie is not sure if he is appearing in the Ryder Cup or not.
Lawrie is very close right now. If he wins either in his National Open or in next week's Open Championship, not only will he qualify but will also have a chance to win the qualification.
These two weeks are very crucial for the Scottish professional golfer. He said in an interview, “Obviously it's always the biggest two weeks of the year for a Scottish player”.
Currently, there should be no pressure on the 43-year-old. He should start working for the event at the Medinah Country Club. The media is playing a huge role in building up the pressure for Lawrie.
He also commented on the present condition and how it is affecting him. He said, “It's impossible not to think of the Ryder Cup because it's a huge event and you guys (the media) all want to know "are you in yet, are you in yet?", but mentally I'm just trying
to do as I can this week and move on”.
