Paul Nicholls well on his way in the game after retiring Kauto Star
With the champion steeplechaser, Kauto Star, retired to stud, the game goes on for the hall mark trainer, Paul Nicholls. With a successful start of the jump season for him, the handler has many options to consider for his well enriched string which is now
joined by, Aaim To Prosper.
He has been sent to Paul from flat racing to get conditioned for hurdling, and it is not for the first time that he has been trusted with the responsibility. He is truly honoured and excited about the prospect, as the brown gelding already has an impressive
profile to show off.
The centre of his attention remains to nine-year-old French gelding, Big Buck’s, who has won the Grade 2 Sportingbet Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury over three miles and half a furlong for three years now. Even though, the race on 1st December
will serve as reappearance with hefty chances and betting on Big Buck’s success, it remains to be a target in the pipe line.
The focus from extending the hat-trick at Newbury to a four-time winning streak wavered after the unexpected and surprising entry of Cadoudal’s bay/brown gelding in the Betfair Fixed Brush Handicap Hurdle scheduled on 24th November.
The trainer commented:
"It is a very valuable race, worth more than the Newbury race that is normally his reappearance, but money isn't everything and we will do what is best for the horse - it's only a tentative entry."
"But, at this stage, Haydock is only a tentative entry for him, so don't get carried away yet."
The trainer is anxiously looking forward to train the Irish brown gelding, Aaim To Prosper. He previously was under the supervision of trainer, Brian Meehan. The eight-year-old will for sure give competition to the star stayer of the stable, Big Buck’s.
The trainer said: "He became the first horse to win two Cesarewitches last month and, at 112, must be one of the highest-rated Flat horses to have joined us from that sphere, maybe similar to Celestial Halo in ratings terms. He clearly is an exciting hurdling
prospect."
The other trainees in the loop all set for making it big in their future targets are, Silviniaco Conti, Tidal Bay, Al Ferof and Cristal Bonus.
