Paul Nicholls’s Current Event aims to accomplish the victory in the Weatherbys Bank Novices’ Chase at Fontwell
Champion trainer Paul Nicholls’s Current Event will be competing in the Weatherbys Bank Novices’ Chase at Fontwell on 22nd March, 2012 with five other competitors over 2 miles and 2 furlongs for £3,054. The five-year-old gelding will be competing
against Get It On, Aussie Man And Van, Edlomond, Galantos and Musashi.
The son of Muhtathir, out of mare La Curamalal, with be making his seasonal debut in this race.
In his seasonal debut of 2011, he finished first in the John Haine Memorial Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury on 26th March, 2011.
On 13th November, 2011, he competed as favourite in the John Rogerson Memorial Beginners’ Chase at Fontwell where he defeated Super Directa by an immense margin of 11 lengths. With this performance in mind and with his familiarity with track,
the bettors will be keeping a keen eye on him.
Nicholls trains the gelding for Mrs. Bunty Millard and because his hard work, the runner had a phenomenal season in 2011. He competed in four races, finishing third in two of them while winning the remaining two.
In this race, he will be paired with Daryl Jacob, the same jockey who lead him to his victory at Fontwell last year.
Trained by Evan Williams, Get It On has been performing well but still has great potential to improve. After finishing fourth in the Betfair. Don’t Settle For Less Handicap Chase on 19th January, 2012 at Taunton, the seven-year-old gelding showed his true
potential in the  Weatherbys Bank Novices’ Handicap Chase at Hereford on 25th January, 2012.
With Paul Moloney, he entered the race with odds of 3 to 1 and finished 5 lengths after the winner, Scoter Fontaine. He was steady but was not brisk enough to keep up with the leader.
The son of King’s Theatre , out of Keshia, is a strong steady runner looking for a placed finish.
Trained by Bill Turner for E.A. Brook, Edlomond’s performance on 12th March, 2012 has the bookmakers interested. He finished as a runner-up losing by 1 ½ lengths to Imperial Shabra in the Alice’s Noodle Bar Novices’ Handicap Chase at Stratford
on 12th March, 2012. His form is terrific and he will deliver an exciting race.
The bookmakers are predicting Current Event’s victory but Get It One is also a significant player in this race. Both of these runners will be aiming for first but it looks like Current Event’s race. Edlomond may follow the leaders closely leading to a finish
in third place.
