Paul Nixon, the acrobatic wicketkeeper of England, Kent and Leicestershire, has decided to call it a day at professional cricket, after appearing in the quarter final of the Friends Life T20 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802, on the coming Saturday.
Nixon was a prominent wicketkeeper for his recent county Leicestershire and went on to represent England as well.
He enjoyed his association with Leicestershire thoroughly and acknowledged the love and affection extended to him by the cricket lovers there, commenting,
"The Leicester public has been absolutely phenomenal towards me and I want to thank them for all of their support."

Nixon did not let down the English selectors once he was selected for the national side in 2007 and in fact went on to represent them in the World Cup 2007.
The 40-year-old played his first One Day International for England on January 12, 2007, against the arch rivals http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at Melbourne, and held two victims behind the stumps.
He has played 19 ODI’s and held 20 catches behind the wickets, with three stumpings.
The left-hander scored 297 runs at an average of 21.21 runs, with the best of 49.
Nixon has played 355 First class matches and grabbed 889 catches with 67 stumpings. He scored 14498 runs averaging 34.35 runs, including the best of unbeaten 173 runs.
The agile wicketkeeper held 421 catches and 99 stumping in First class matches, scored 7418 runs with an average of 26.30 runs, the best of 101 runs with 34 fifties.
In 90 T20 matches, he caught 48 and stumped 23 victims. He has scored 1423 runs at an average of 23.32 runs, with the best of 65 runs, with four fifties.

After serving Leicestershire and England to the best of his potential, he spoke about his decision to retire, saying,
"I can't keep to those high standards anymore. All of my mentors said to me that you'll know when the time is right and the time has come. I've thought about it for a few months now and am at ease with it. It's time for the youngsters to have their journeys now.”
