Paul Noone seals a one-year deal at Roughyeds - Rugby News
Oldham second-rower, Paul Noone, has inked a one-year contract with the Roughyeds on Thursday, October 27.
Noone has featured into 27 games for Oldham in 2012 and was club’s coach, Tony Benson’s pick as the Player of the Year.
While commenting about this latest uptake, the coach added, “It didn't surprise us to discover he was a target for others because he has set the benchmark for professionalism within our team. He is a major influence, in the dressing room, in training and
on game day, and he is particularly supportive of younger players. He played at the top level for years and, having enjoyed that, he is keen to see up-and-coming kids fulfilling their potential and going as far as they can. He offers a lot to our youngsters.
He's still one of the fittest players in the club. It's rare for him to be 'spelled'.”
The player was not only appraised for his great strength and fitness which has counted him undisputedly amongst the physically fittest players on board. The coach further assured that the player is one of those rare ones, who will always give their full
time on-field.
Noone played 119 Super League games for Warrington Wolves with 100 more games with other clubs, including, Widnes and Barrow, before he signed in with Oldham last year.
Noone also appeared content with his association with Oldham, because amongst the clubs which had called up for the prop, he opted for them and proved himself brilliantly on field.
In lieu of his out of ordinary performance, the player was badged as the player of the year title, which was his very first in his long career. This achievement of his is held close to his heart in going for Oldham from amongst the pool of choices available
to him.
He further added that he wants his side to win the division and not lower their goals by just progressing ahead along with three other teams. He believes that his side is capable of winning and thats what they should be reaching out for.
When asked about his retirement plans, the player added that he does not see it coming in next three to four years at least.
