Paul Pierce, Jason Kidd: Ranking the NBA aging superstars – Part 4
5. Paul Pierce
He is one of the most celebrated players in the league with a Championship ring on his finger to go along with the Finals MVP (2008) honours. He is 35 years old now and remains the back bone of the Boston Celtics team.
Though the Celtics have not got the start to the season they would have liked but they are still doing ok. And with the departure of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce continues to play extended minutes on the court and contribute the bulk
of the Celtics scoring.
Though his shooting percentage is not the most desirable but he more than makes it up for it by his presence on the defensive side of the court and boasts a healthy rebounding and blocks average.
With one of the best guards in the league Rajon Rondo by his side, Pierce continues to remain a strong threat for his opponents.
4. Jason Kidd
Jason Kidd is 39 years old and is playing the 19th season of his NBA career but he continues to play like a kid. His critics may have rated as a spent force but he is one of the major surprises this year, and is contributing
a lot for the hot New York Knicks with his accurate passing and sharp shooting in his limited minutes on the court.
He is just destructive from the three point land, coming off the bench to add valuable point in the later quarters of the game. He nailed a clutch three pointer not so long ago to down the Brooklyn Nets for a 100-97 win.
Though it’s his first season with New York, the Knicks have developed amazing team chemistry with Kidd amongst them. Carmelo Anthony is firing on all cylinders and with the likes of Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton and Ronnie Brewer
they will be the team to beat in this year playoffs.
He does get some help from the backup point guard Pablo Prigioni and if he continues to play the way he is playing right now, he may be on top of our list by the time the season ends.
