Paul Pierce: Kobe is not the best player. I am the best player in the world today.

Question

Funny how this guy has been around 8 forgettable seasons on some pretty mediocre team, and the minute he wins a title he has an over inflated opinion of himself.

If he's the best player in the world today, then why don't Jordan, Johnson, and the other greats say so?

Isn't it that Kobe, MJ, Lebron, and other greats didn't refer to themselves as "the best player in the world today?"

He said he is entitled to his opinion, but for crying out loud, there's a thin line between opinions and arrogance.

SF ( small forwards) that are better than him:

Tmac ( he can shoot over pierce or drive by him any day)

Lebron ( Lebron is way to strong and gets wherever he wants)

I think Pierce hasn't notice that he has Kevin Garnett and Ray allen,

Kevin Garnett gets so much attention since he can shoot and attack the rim, you can't leave Ray allen open or he will beat you with his shooting, that leaves a wide open Pierce you think that if tmac or Lebron had one guy on them the whole time they wouldn't score alot.

Pierce was never double team by the other teams he was always left open or guarded by ONE guy.

the question posed to Paul by a random FAN was " Do you think Kobe is the best?" to which Paul responded the same way ANY athlete would...to compete you HAVE TO have this mindset...if you have never been in this position it's understandable that it seems cocky TO YOU, but it the NORM...

what this means to those who can't understand or WON'T understand - you get the ear of ANY good-to-great professional athlete and ask him if he thinks someones better than him...the BEST ones 99-out-of-100 always think THEY are the best...

Pierce just said that cause he got Garnett and Allen. He's not even the best player in his team or is he ? Well that is debatable but it is sure clear that Kobe, even without Garnett and Allen with some help from his teammates carried the Lakers to the NBA Finals. Dude, thats why you could thing called MVP. It is for the best player. Who won it ? Kobe Bean Bryant. Even though there are haters out there, we have to accept that fact that Kobe is the Best Player Today.Period.

Kobe hasn't won a Championship what seven years and yet! there have been debates on whether or not he is better or as good as or the next best to MJ since then. Yeah lol this made me laugh when I heard about this haha. Sure, Paul Peirce is a good basketball player... But if he was the best in the WORLD, he would be on the USA Mens basketball team, and I guess he forgot about Lebron, as much as I hate Kobe, he is great.

Obviously he's not the best player. But for one playoff series, he was the best player in the world, or at least the best on the court. But remember, he arguable did play better than kobe in the finals. He's very happy about winning the championship, i'm sure he's joking.

people are taking what he said WAY TO SERIOUSLY... he was asked if Kobe was the best, and having seen many many interviews with pierce i can say pretty confidently that he was laughing when he said "naw i am".. which is pretty much what any good player thinks.. that he is the best
