I heard about that a couple days ago and thought the person was lying when they said he said that. Its crazy........I like Paul Pierce and all but thats just silly I can't believe it. He has let the Championship go to his head a little, but whatever like you said I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion ya know

Pierce is entitled to his own opinion. This is a case of a self-proclaimed "best" beating another self-proclaimed "best" and claiming the honors.

His logic is that if he stopped the "best player in the world" 1on1 when it counted in 2008 Finals, then he is better then the "best" and that makes him the best.

I disagree with Pierce. Kobe was NOT the best to begin with. Basketball is a team sport. Kobe does not play team ball or make his team better. He hogs the ball, takes more risky shots than make assists for team-mates, and is toxic in the locker room. A me-first player cannot be the best at a team sport.

Since Pierce did not beat the best, that does not qualify him to be the best either.

Pierce has bragging rights over Kobe until they meet again in a future Finals.

Paul Pierce was the one who dominated the Lakers in the finals. Kobe didn't even bother showing up. So, it's no wonder that Pierce said he is the best player in the NBA.
