Paul Robinson, the Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 goalkeeper, revealed he believed the club could still pull through and avoid relegation. The Rovers are currently in the bottom three of the Premier League table with the first half of the season fast approaching its end.
However, Robinson was confident Blackburn Rovers would not face relegation at the end of the season, having previously been relegated in 2004 while playing for Leeds United. Leeds were demoted to the second tier of English football just three years after making it to the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The 32-year-old admitted it had been tough to face relegation with Leeds, along with teammates like Mark Viduka, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Milner-c17706. However, he did not see a similar situation at Ewood Park, which is why he was certain they would not be relegated at the end of the season.
Robinson said while speaking to reporters:
“We've got a very, very good spirit and we've proved that with the way we kept battling. That's the spirit we're going to need to get out of this.”
Their recent fixture against Wigan Athletic ended in a 3-3 draw, a match that was advertised as a must win for Steve Kean. However, they took away just one point from the game and remain in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
He revealed:
“We wanted all three points as we saw this as a winnable game. But as it panned out, going down to ten and the circumstanced of the game, it's definitely a point gained.”
The former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper revealed that while there was a certain level of disappointment within the squad, they were pleased with having acquired a point. He urged his team to step up and improve their form for upcoming fixtures in the Premier League.
Robinson continued:
“I think we were disappointed with the way we played in the first half. But second half, we showed the right attitude and application with ten men. If we show that from the start of games with 11 men, we're not going to be far away.”
