Paul Scholes elaborates on his ability to “miss-time” tackles - English Premier League
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394 has come out and defended his ability to tackle successfully in his recent interview with the British media as the former Manchester United midfielder elaborated on some of his famously ill-timed tackles. Scholes retired
from the beautiful game earlier on in the summer after Manchester United lost the UEFA Champions League final at the Wembley stadium to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
The Englishman is seen as one of the finest midfielder’s of his generation and his fantastic testimonial match capped off what was a wonderful career for the Manchester United man. Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 is keen to retaining Paul Scholes as
a coach at the club for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is busy promoting his newly launched autobiography.
Paul Scholes was famous for his late tackles which left quite a lot of sending offs during his career. In his last few years at Old Trafford, Sir Alex used Scholes sparingly and saved him for some of the tougher matches of the
season. One of his most memorable performances came in the 2008 UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona when he scored a terrific long ranged effort to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League final for the Red Devils.
Scholes eventually called time on his career when he realized that he was not able to fulfil the rigours and demands of club football on a weekly basis. Whilst his current “batch” mates such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 labour on elsewhere,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Neville-c14447 also retired last season. United’s midfielder has been sorely missed by his club since his retirement as Sir Alex Ferguson has time and again suggested that Scholes is irreplaceable.
The Englishman elaborated on his tackling ability in his recent interview as he stated, "Of course I can tackle. There's plenty of evidence of being able to tackle. I was just getting people back. If someone got me early in the
game it was always in the back of my mind that I needed to get them back. I didn't always do it on purpose, some of it was just bad timing, I suppose.”
He added, “But I think throughout my career the record wasn't that bad; there were not that many yellow cards. Well, I suppose a few yellow cards, but not many sendings-off. But I think towards the end every time I made one tackle
I got booked, because of my reputation I suppose."
Manchester United are now bringing up Thomas Cleverley as a replacement for Paul Scholes through their youth academy. Although Cleverley is not seen as a player who is exactly in the Paul Scholes mould, people at Old Trafford have
high hopes that the Manchester United midfielder will become heir to the throne of Paul Scholes.
