Manchester United’s manager has come out and said that Scholes is crucial to Manchester United as Xavi is to Barcelona in their squad before their match against Ajax in Amsterdam. Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 will hope that Scholes retains his fitness
levels till the end of the season and the Scotsman might even try to convince the veteran playmaker to stay for another full season at Old Trafford.
Scholes retired from professional football altogether after last year’s UEFA Champions League final defeat to Barcelona for Manchester United. Before the final at Wembley, Barcelona’s players came out and praised Scholes and after
the match there was a personal race between them as to who can claim the legend’s shirt as a souvenir.
Manchester United might not start with Scholes in the first team line up against Ajax as he did play the full 90 minutes against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on the weekend but Sir Alex Ferguson will decide that. The Manchester United manager said,
"It's like Barcelona talking about Xavi in the way we talk about Scholes. I said to Paul [at the end of last season] he could play 25 to 30 games and he said, 'It's not enough for me.'
He added, "He decided to retire [rather than go] from a top player playing all the time to 25 to 30 games. I was being sensible about that because he was approaching 37, and for a midfielder to do it at that age is very difficult.
I was perfectly honest with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 because that was the future. But when he decided to come back I was delighted. I saw no negatives at all."
Scholes himself said that he had resumed training with the Manchester United squad even before he had made his decision to comeback for the club in the January transfer window. He said that he had been hard a couple of months before
he announced his comeback to football.
