Paul Scholes links the Mexican to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United’s new signing Javier Hernandez greatly impressed everyone when he replaced Wayne Rooney in the second half of a Community Shield match. The Mexican striker partnered Dimitar Berbatov up front and both the players tormented Chelsea’s defence at will. The striker scored a rather unusual goal, when he couldn’t control the ball and accidently hit the ball on his own face. The ball still found the back of the net and Hernandez made his dream debut for the Red Devils. Javier Hernandez became the first Mexican to join the club who openly admits to be living in a dream. The striker was delighted when given the opportunity to play with his “Playstation Heroes” as he had only seen these players on the TV screen. United won 3-1 against Chelsea, lifting its 18th Community Shield in the process. Antonio Valencia, Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov scored the goals for Manchester United.
Hernandez presence was felt in the second half and United’s captain for the match, Nemanja Vidic was amazed by the performance of the 22-year-old and was happy for the player to be a part of the Manchester United family. Hernandez has scored in every match that he has played for the Red Devils and many expect him to reach the heights of football greatness at United. While talking to MUTV, Vidic stated that the player looked sharp and noted that the Mexican liked to work behind the defence. Vidic added that the player’s pace helps him to be present when such a ball is played and claimed that since the player scored, it would serve as a huge confidence booster.
Vidic admitted that the player is enjoying himself in England and his ability to speak English has made it easier for him to communicate and settle in the country. Vidic joked that Hernandez has so quickly become a part of the squad that it seems that the Mexican has been here for the past three years.
Veteran midfielder Paul Scholes also voiced his opinion about the 22-year-old and praised the youngster’s ability. "He looks like an out-and-out goal scorer," said the 35-year-old midfielder. Scholes stated that the player can also play outside the box and possesses the ability to control the ball quite easily. The first touch on the ball is important and Hernandez has the ability to keep the ball near his feet. Scholes added that Hernandez will prove to be a threat to all the defenders in the EPL and expects the Mexican to score a lot of goals for the club this season.
Scholes compared the Mexican to former teammate, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who currently manages the reserves side. The midfielder stated that the first time he saw the Mexican training with the Reds, he reminded him about Ole. Scholes added that later, the team had a finishing session in which Hernandez scored whenever he had the ball. Scholes therefore expects the striker to find the net every time he gets the opportunity to do so.
Scholes praised the strikers’ ability to be lively and energetic every time he comes on to play. This attitude has allowed the Mexican to easily adapt to the pace of English football and Scholes admitted that Javier did have the capability to score goals at will. On the topic of his resemblance with Ole, Scholes stated that if the Mexican was anywhere near Solskjaer, he’ll be a roaring success.
Nemanja Vidic was delighted to see Bulgarian striker Berbatov to score in the community shield. Dimitar Berbatov managed a remarkable chip above goal keeper Hilaro’s head, which settled things for United. Berbatov scored deep into injury time of the regular ninety minutes and ended the score line at 3-1. Vidic stated that every time the Bulgarian comes on the pitch, the entire game play changes. The presence of the player is brilliant but Vidic added that the player needs to score more goals. The defender expected the striker to score more goals this season and enable the club to win more silverware this season.
